PIX

PIX is Brazil's instant payment system, created and operated by the Central Bank of Brazil (Banco Central do Brasil), enabling free or near-free account-to-account transfers that settle in seconds, 24/7 — and the de facto standard payment method for iGaming in Brazil.

Launched in November 2020, PIX reached mass adoption at a speed few payment systems have matched, and in Brazil's regulated betting market (live since January 2025 under the federal licensing regime) it dominates both deposits and withdrawals. Players pay via QR code or PIX key from any banking app; funds arrive instantly.

For operators entering Brazil, the operational picture:

  • PIX is effectively mandatory — a Brazilian-facing cashier without instant PIX deposits and payouts is at a severe conversion disadvantage;
  • Instant withdrawals are the market expectation, which compresses the risk-review window and demands automated payout approval logic;
  • Identity matching — PIX transactions carry the payer's CPF (tax ID), which regulation requires to match the verified account holder, making PIX a KYC enforcement point as well as a rail;
  • Access comes via licensed Brazilian PSPs integrated into the platform cashier.

Why it matters: Brazil is one of the largest regulated market opportunities in iGaming, and PIX quality — success rates, payout latency, CPF matching — is a primary competitive differentiator there. Platform-level PIX orchestration is table stakes for the market.
